How to Make Your Google Drawings Bigger
OverviewThis Add-on makes it possible to precisely control the width & height of images in Google docs. It currently only works with 'In line' images. I'm waiting for feedback by the Google API team to make it also work with 'Wrap text' and 'Break text'. (have been waiting forever so don't think this is going to happen.) Use the menu Add-ons->SetImageSize->show sidebar to activate. Then select an image in your document and select "get size" in the sidebar. Now change the size to your liking, then select 'Apply' to make the change. If you get the error "ScriptError: Authorization is required to perform that action." then maybe you are logged into your browser with multiple accounts and Google script doesn't like that. Aug 17th 2019 - added link to privacy policy July 18th 2018 - clarified that only in-line bitmap images are supported (eg. Google drawings are not). June 28th 2018 - added function to retrieve original image size [1:1]. Should work with bmp, gif, jpeg and png. - stopped decimal places in presets. June 19th 2018 - added an additional authorization to allow the sidebar to open. This was a breaking change that Google made and which stopped the add-on to work from June 7th.

Learn More Your app is wonderful, especially with maintaining the size of a series of images that show examples on different pages. It streamlines the entire process. I work with images a lot either doing crafts, or instructional documentation and one thing I am always struggling with is adding a title to each image. Would it be possible to have an optional sidebar feature that allows us to add an extra space to the top or bottom of an image and a place in the sidebar to type in a brief title that stays with the image if it is moved within the document? Currently I have to insert a table with either one or two columns then cut and paste the text, then fudge the formatting of the text to get the table with the title in it just below the image or split this section of the document into columns and again fudge the text formatting to get everything to align properly. Such a waste of time that creates headache upon headache upon headache. This addition to your app would make my life that much more easier, streamlined. Could you share with me an example of what you do with the table? Maybe your 'fudging' can be scripted. Even though I select only one image in the "in line" state, I keep getting this error message: "Error: Please select one image. Currently only images that are set to 'in line' are supported due to a limitation in the Google API." Your review, profile name and photo will appear publicly in Google's services. A user of SetImageSize August 14, 2018 Same problem here. I get this message almost every times. Sometimes it works, I don't know why. Very useful, thank you so much!! Would love to be able to set my own shortcut sizes (e.g. I use 100px for thumbnails), as well as specify inches or centimeters instead. Also if the menu options included the dimension (e.g. "200px height") instead of just "200", because I use Option+/ to search menu items from my keyboard, and "200" results in ambiguous options. (Also, Docs uses exactly 96 pixels per inch, and very close to 37.8 pixels per centimeter, so you can calculate the pixels from that.) Learn More A user of SetImageSize May 13, 2017 I used your tip on the translation to inches & cm and these are now supported. A user of SetImageSize May 8, 2017 hey thanks for the feedback. I will give the 96px / inch a try! Really impressed, not only does the developer answers questions, he responds to ideas and implements them where possible (for a product he doesn't charge for) That's rare and deserves credit. That said, this add-on was exactly what I was looking for. It was simple to use and worked flawlessly. Thanks Your review, profile name and photo will appear publicly in Google's services. Learn More I was hoping to be able to set the exact dimensions myself, for eaxmple '10cm x 5scm' like you can on Windows word. Learn More A user of SetImageSize May 14, 2017 it is now possible to use inches or cm to set image size A user of SetImageSize December 8, 2015 that would be nice indeed. Unfortunately the Google scripting language only allows me to set the image in pixels. Terrible. Once you click install it asks for your permission. Once you click that it loads for 2 seconds and then doesn't install it. If you click to go to the actual web store it says you have installed it but you cannot access it on your doc. Pointless and frustrating. Your review, profile name and photo will appear publicly in Google's services.
